I happen to own an ipod video . . . I'm satisfied with it, except for a few minor annoyances.

OK, I just looked at the iriver e10 . . . I guess I should just go through the pros and cons of each as far as I know so you can make up your mind.

ipod video:

Pros:
* Pretty huge storage capacity. 30 GB is the smallest ipod video you can get. You can put an enormous amount of music on it.
* Plays videos.
* Looks pretty cool.
* Can function as a portable hard drive.
* Can charge from a standard USB socket.
* There are lots of cases and other accessories to choose from.
* You can make the playlists on itunes. (I never thought about this one, but one of my friends recommended the ipod to me because his smaller mp3 player did not have an easy way to make playlists. You had to make them on the device, and that took forever. I don't know if the iriver thing does that, but it probably does.)

Cons:
* Internal, non-replaceable battery. You have to send it back to get it replaced.
* The wall charger is a separate accessory.
* It has a hard drive in it, so common sense dictates that you don't handle the thing rough.
* You MUST use itunes to put music on it to listen to. (There are projects out there to duplicate the interface, but I don't think they work so great from what I've seen. Not that I've tried very hard . . . I just use itunes.) If you put music on it just like any other file, it will not appear in any playlists. The file names get mutated, so it's pretty difficult (or at least very inconvenient) to hack an alternate solution.
* If you put files you did not purchase from itunes on your ipod, and the only copy was in a playlist, and you deleted the original from your computer, then there is no easy way to get the thing off your ipod. The point of this is to discourage people from copying lots of mp3 music and sharing with each other illegally.
* I think the video ipod is pretty clunky. I mean, it's small enough when you consider what it does, but sometimes I wish I had a smaller ipod to work out with. I guess you can't have it all though.
* The only video format I'm aware the ipod video supports is MP4. It's a common format, but sometimes I don't want to convert stuff.

OK, here's what I can tell about the iriver just from looking at it:

Pro:
* For one thing, its physical size looks smaller than the ipod video.
* It's only 6GB, so I doubt it uses a hard drive. The battery life may be better (because there is no hard drive and a smaller screen).
* It apparently supports music and video formats the ipod does not. It plays flash and AVI videos. It also plays Windows Media Audio and OGG formatted music (a free format that isn't very common yet).

Cons:
* It's only got 6GB of storage. It sounds like a lot, but you won't be able to use this for a portable hard drive if you have lots of music. And videos . . . they usually take up significantly more space than music. The thing could fill up fast.
* The screen is only 1.5". Compare that to the ipod's 2.5" screen. Already 2.5" is small enough . . . I don't know if a 1.5" screen would be worth watching.
* This will not play music and video you bought from the itunes store.
* Like the ipod, the battery is internal and non-replaceable.

All I can tell you is that my ipod serves its purpose for the most part. I sometimes think I would like to listen to music as I work out, but I'd rather talk to friends instead. That's the funny thing about music players . . . they discourage people from talking to you and make you look like you're in your own world. Which music player you should buy entirely depends on what you need. If you want all of your music with you at all times, and you want ample space to put your files and stuff, then the ipod is for you. If you just want to listen to some music between classes or in the car, then you should probably get a smaller capacity (and cheaper) mp3 player. I like the fact that I can put most of my stuff from my computer on my ipod and have space to spare, but that's totally a preference. Good luck!

I believe that the video ipod is much better because u get more hard drive space and it is a bit cheaper. Also since it is an ipod it has many different accesiores you can buy.

Itunes is only compatible with Apple Ipods

In my opinion Ipods are the best MP3 players because they are very easy to use and you could organize your songs very well with ITunes.
