Some people probably do believe they are anonymous in here, which is of course preposterous.
Accusations of crimes is nothing compared to those who spout off about hanging or killing the President.
The sheer insanity of putting that in print would be laughable if it were not so sad. Villagers please collect your idiots.

It's not slander unless its spoke. Libel is the written form.

And it's not libel of a public figure unless the person who is making the statement knows it to be false.

Bush has publicly admitted violating federal law. And the Supreme Court has determined he violated federal law. Both of the laws in question were felonies. So, anyone saying that Bush is a criminal (based on those facts) would not be subject to libel, because their is factual support for their claim.

Hence, it would not be intentionally making a known false statement regarding a public official. That's how law works.

And yes, many people are effectively anonymous. All that's required to set up a Yahoo Answers account is a Yahoo personal account, and an email address. Both of which can be gotten anonymously. And if your only access was via wireless from a public location, there would be no way to trace the individual.

Then again, some of us have no need to be anonymous.

You can't be accused of libel or slander when discussing our elected officials. They are considered as always being in public view. Check the laws.

I don't think anyone has to worry about that. In our culture, the politicians have become accustomed to outlandish accusations on both sides.

You do have a point when it comes to advocating direct actions against a sitting President however.

Does it matter, freedom of speech also covers freedom of opinion. We have a right to speak as we feel and I am exercising that right. As long as there is nothing threading, and stays within the T.O.S and community Guidelines it is OK. .
