I say we live in the country, but not really, though we have to drive about 8 miles to get to a grocery store. Been here some 30 years so it's really changed a lot. It's a small development of about 45 house, The development looks like a horseshoe with a road going down the middle. People would call our neighborhood "starter homes" because McMansions have come up all around us. It's quite. We each have about 1/2 acre. There's a lot of lawn mowing in the summer. Most have swimming pools of one kind or the other. Kids grow up and come back or try to live close to their parents, so some of us have been here for a long time. I could afford to move and cash in my equity, but I don't know what more I could want in a home.

I live in a small community in Northern Canada. I know ALL of my neighbours... everyone within a 5 kilometer radius is a neighbour! It can be both loud and quiet; people spend a lot of time outside of their homes in good weather. You never know who will pop in... tea can last all day when I'm not at work... a revolving door of good friends (like today!)

The bush is a mere 2 minute walk away.... I've had a moose, two bears, a fox, a marten, and various birds wander into my backyard (though not all at the same time!)

No neighborhood - just the one I create for myself. I live on a farm in the middle of nowhere and my nearest neighbor is about 5 miles away. It is really nice out here, all alone, and it's dark and stormy, and way to quiet. Oh my, it's kinda like the "Alien" teaser - "In space, no one can hear you scream..."

I live in a new sub-division in the 'burbs. It dosent have a lot of character...everyones landscaping is new and the trees are barely taller than the one story homes they are in front of. I prefer established landscaping..but the neighborhood does look clean and new...not all run down. All the houses are brick too.

It has houses.. streets.. roads.. signs.. a Caution Light.... it would have everything your has in it.. only yours wouldn't have me in it.. or then t would be my neighborhood.. not yours.. well I guess technically it could still be yours.. but if your break down the dynamics of the actual question... What difference does it make?.. Would you feel sorry for me if I told you I live in a Frigidaire Box Community.. you know we all live in boxes.. oh wait I'm in a padded room talking to myself, answering myself and also saying "huh?".. so there,.from my doctors point of view..Since I say "huh?" when talking to myself... I have a problem.. But what does he know.. the milkman is still screwin' his wife while he plays golf on Tuesdays , Thursdays and sometimes Saturday afternoon.. Poor Doc I know what you're thinking... But get this.. The Doc talks to himself and says "huh?" also .. but does he have to wear a straight jacket .. chained to the middle of a padded room.. typing with his toes?.. NO ... He gets to self soothe.. in a nice sauna.. after a game of racquetball.. and a 4 mile jog.. actually its only 3 and a half miles.. The Doc likes to fudge on the details a bit... Sly bugger...

Even though its a great thing to me, I live in a white neighborhood. I'm Spanish by the way. And the whole area is beautiful and peaceful.

But no Asian Girls! That's the only bad thing.

Lots of college kids, homeless people, and "gangsters". Generally safe, but I'm (hopefully) moving to a much safer part of this neighborhood soon.

Richmond, Virginia

two story homes with American flags poles on the porch, street lined with mature oak trees, with dogwoods and azaleas in bloom outside the city limits.
We have walkers and children riding bikes, where you have block parties for the neighborhood kids.
Nice place to live and raise a family
