First off, why did you stereotype people like that. All the people I know that have their belly button pierced, they are all preps.

I would wait until summer gets here because the sunlight is good for the healing and the chlorine will help keep it cleaned out if when you go swimming.

They can also get really infected easily and can be a real pain.

Make sure you research the pro's and con's before you go get it done.

If you want to, go for it. Who cares if it's "outdated"? if you like it, do it. My only advice is to wait a few years, maybe until you are 16/17. If you still want it then, do it, just be sure you take good care of it!

Also, don't get it done in the summer- contrary to what that person said up there. You aren't supposed to swim until it is healed- at least 3-4 months. Sunlight won't do anything to make it heal faster.

I would get it done right at the end of summer, or during the winter. You won't be tempted to swim when it's cold out (granted- you live in a place where it gets cold in the winter!) and you'll have less risk getting it infected with lake/ocean/chlorine water.

Hope this helps!

I just answered your other question, so now I'll have a go at this one. I got mine done at 18, at the end of my senior year. A bunch of my friends had theirs done, but told me to wait until I was done with competitive sports and activities. You really don't know at 13 what activities you'll want to do in high school yet. I know cheerleaders at our school were not allowed to have them because their uniforms showed midriff. Girls on the swim team were strongly discouraged from having them. I was on the dance team and even got to dance in the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade. One of the rules- no piercings of any kind allowed for the week (and they checked). I know I wouldn't want to go through the pain and money to get it pierced again. I'd wait or at least see what your high school has to say about them if you are interested in any activities.

Well its not a matter of being goth I have mine pierced on top and bottom and I like it. If you think it will look good then do it if you dont like it later take it out.

If you want to and your mother says you can, why not. I had mine done years ago, but I'm an adult, and I'm still happy that I had it done. I like the way it looks, my husband likes the way it looks and most of my friends like it. You are going to run into some people who are still going to be grossed out by it, but you have to go with your gut feeling and do what you really want.

Wait a few years. You don't want people judging you for having it pierced at such a young age, even though your mom thinks its alright.
