Can't anyone else see this?

We have become more like England than ever before!

Through taxes-territories-slavery(American businesses paying slave wages to adults and children for higher profits)-waging war for gold, oil that is!

Now everyone wants religion and prayer in school!

We revolted against all of this over 200 years ago!

I can see it for sure! It is basic greed. Before the U.S., it was the British. The British used to be a very proud empire and they said, "The sun never sets on the British empire." Rome was the same way back in the day.

And for all you patriots who say I should be thankful I live in a country where I have enough freedom to talk about my government like this, I will say that I definitely am thankful. But also keep in mind that that right was not fought for and earned by blind, obedient men who jumped at the chance to go to war and defend their country when they didn't even know why the war was really being fought- and this goes for many, many wars that were basically about money and power.

No. Our freedom that we have today, save being free from paying taxes to England, was fought for and gotten by the gays and lesbians who were shunned and the women in our country who, when WWII was over, weren't willing to go back to being housewives and by African Americans and African American sympathisers when it was unpopular to think that segregation was wrong and by peope who participated in sit-downs and protests and wrote many letters to our congressmen, etc. Yes. It is those people that we should be thanking. The ones who stand up and use their God-given voices and their own minds and speak up when they think something is wrong instead of simply going along with everyone else just so they don't get ridiculed or upset someone.

I think you are truly stretching it there. And since when does everyone want religion and prayer in school? They have been removing anything god-like from the school system for a decade now.. Where do you reside? In Amish country?? And in answer to your question...no. I guess everyone can't see that, except those who reeeaaaally have to go out on a limb to do so. Maybe you should just throw a barrel of tea into the harbor and start something.

Consider that since 1962, federal revenue from progressive taxes (in which higher income people pay a higher tax percentage than lower income) dropped by 17%. Federal income from regressive taxes (which place a higher burden on those with lower income) increased by 135%. Since 1980, taxes on inheritance and investment have dropped by 31% while taxes on income derived from work have increased by 25%. Between 2000 and 2003, corporations (the institutions that perpetuate and insulate the plutocracy) saw their contribution to federal revenue through taxes fall by 36%. Bush's corporate tax cuts of 2002 and 2003 made this corporate wet dream possible. His individual tax cuts between 2002 and 2004 were a propaganda ploy to buy votes and ensure that the financial oligarchy retained a strangle-hold on the US government. Average working Americans received rebate checks of $400.00. $600 billion dollars in tax cuts went to those earning more than $288,000 per year. To ice the cake, the wealthiest 1% of Americans received $197 billion dollars in additional tax breaks. That means that each of those lucky plutocrats enjoyed a staggering $56.3 million in tax relief, but don't worry. In theory, they put that money back into the economy and it will "trickle down" to the rest of us. I have not been trickled upon yet. Have you?

Since 1997, the plutocrats have shielded their corporate allies from bearing higher labor costs by keeping the minimum wage at a ridiculously low $5.15. Someone earning minimum wage and working full-time would gross $10,700.00 per year. In accruing his fortune, it took Bill Gates less than a minute to earn that much. Free trade agreements, outsourcing jobs to other countries, reducing staff by placing heavier workloads on fewer workers, and weakening organized labor are strategies our ruling plutocrats have employed effectively to depress the average hourly wages of the 80% of America's workforce who are not managers. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that in 2002, the average wage was $14.95 per hour. Compare this to the $14.50 (adjusted to represent 2002 dollars) which was the average wage in the late 1970's. The opportunities in America appear to be reserved for an elite few.

Corporations act as the primary vehicle for the plutocrats to maintain their economic tyranny over US citizens, and much of the rest of humanity. Operating with many of the legal rights of a human being, the corporation provides an ideal shield behind which the wealthy can evade personal responsibility for raping the earth, plundering the public treasury, enslaving the populace with artificially low wages, abusing human rights, and forming complex, incestuous networks with governments.

Yes, we're on the verge of turning into an effective monarchy.
At least, that is what Bush has been attempting for years.

And you are correct about state-sponsored religion, and legislating religious morality, and lack of represenation.

Maybe that's an inevitable result of any centralized power. Whether monarchy or republic -- the power is eventually abused, and unless stopped, causes a breakdown.

What you REALLY revolted against was the idea of someone getting to be King just because his father was King... oh, wait...

Hardly anyone works for minimum wages and those who do are transitional--only wanting part-time work or young people just starting. You have a very unrealistic view of the United States.
