Anyone can file a lawsuit, and universities and colleges have liability insurance to cover such claims. However, before you sign a contingent fee agreement with a personal injury lawyer, consider whether the university may have been negligent in causing are allowing a dangerous situation to exist on campus.

It is all in what you are able to prove. Think carefully, and if you think you have a cause of action, consult with an attorney. In personal injury matters, they offer free consultations. Talk to him or her, and decide whether you want to proceed further.

Anyone CAN file a lawsuit.....the problem comes with the ability to prove up in court. In your case, you would have to prove that your injury was a result of the university's gross negligence.
