WAH-ter

I noticed that on an old Burl Ives recording of "Big Rock Candy Mountain", Burl always pronounced it "ooter", just like "hooter" but without the "h". I guess you COULD hear that as "wooder". Never heard it pronounced that way anywhere else. Wonder where you heard it?

I pronounce it Wader.. I can't say I've heard anyone pronounce it otherwise though... Wooder? Really?

How about wash.. Do you say wash, or warsh?

It's hard to tell.
I'm from Southern VA, but I don't have the southern accent.

It's a cross between water and wader.
