I work at a daycare and here are some of the interesting names people give their kids: Patience Ann-Love (yes, those are her 1st, and middle names), Gatlin (like the gun), Katara (from avatar), Neveah (heaven backwards), Sincere, Blaize (i really like this one), Harmony, & Kenissa. I don't know anyone else who have these names. My cousin named her son Ryvers (rivers) and I thought she was crazy, but turns out she named him after a friend of her boyfriends family. Some people come up with interesting names, and sometimes the kids grow up to love their names. I went to school with a girl whose name was Penny Ann Nickols. She loved it. My husband works with a guy whose name is Rope Laine. The point is that we don't have a say in what people name thier children, or why they do it. At least they will always be remembered. The worst one so far is a girl I know and her name is Frances Anita Gomez. Doesn't sound bad right? Well, when she has to use her initals it will spell FAG. At least she will have the chance to get married someday.

I think people want fairly uncommon names for their child because each child is unique in their own ways. Some names are pretty off the wall, and some parents need to think before they name their children! My youngest daughter has a really long name, and I kinda regret giving her such a long name, but she shortened it herself. The only time she hears her full name is when she is in trouble! LOL But It's not too common, and it's pronouncable! Her name is MarissaLynn. She shortened it to Marissa, and tht's fine. But there are some parents (CELEB PARENTS) for example that name their kids off the wall names like Pilot Inspektor, FiFi Trixibelle... Must their kids go through hell because they are famous? It's not fair! Anywho... Those are just my thoughts!!

Because they want too.
It's there child.
But I think Ariel is a very pretty name.
But I have heard worse:
Zakeedrah,Ruchama, Jasima and many others...
But I remember that one of the celebs named there child Apple i was like what the hell poor kid.
But my middle name is unique I have yet to come across someone with the middle name of Leneah I love it I think it is a very beautiful name.
Sure it is "off the wall" but it is very unique and different.
Atleast the names aren't like the other billion Maria's and Elizabeth's out in the world.

some people go over the top. Like I went to school with a Chanda Leer. But some people just want their child to be different from all of the other kids. I like the different names like Mason, and Chase. Its all up to the parent in the end anyway.

Okay. Firstly...What's wrong with Star, Raine, and Ariel? Absolutely nothing. They're not over-the-top. APPLE, MOON-UNIT, and all those other celebrity baby names are over-the-top...Personally, I like using STAR and RAINE as middle names. Not to be different. Just because I like those meanings. I don't understand why people don't mind their own business about the names parents choose. It's their baby. Not yours. Name yours whatever you want. Let the rest of us name ours.

Well I am naming my Daughter Rialynn Nicole is that a weird name to you too?? I agree some names are way over board but I think if they at the very least give their babies a more comman middle name that its ok to name them some kind of different name.

Some people feel a connection with certain names...maybe that name fits their child...I personally don't see anything wrong with those names...a name doesn't make a person, the person makes him/herself...if you are a strong confident person then who cares if someone says something about your name, you can handle it...

My thoughts exactly. I would think of all the harsh nicknames you can make of a certain name, and decide rather it would be a good name, or wreck the kid's life!

Because they think they're naming a baby. They forget that the baby will grow up and have to live with these names.
