I'm assuming that you have signed up for the text messaging service.. so, click on the menu icon, and if you scroll around, you will come to a text message icon, which will ask you send a message, and to whom (you'd have to type in the 10 digit number, or select from your contacts list) then proceed to type in the message, using the number with the alphabet key, then send. Easy as can be!

go into messages >> text messages >> write new, then plug in the persons phone number area code first and hit send

Go to message -- create -- send by putting a phone #.
It'll cost you if it's not in your plan.
OR just email them since you know how to use the computer & it's free.

It really depends on the phone and the provider.
