How can drugs be immoral? Drugs have no sense of right and wrong so they cannot possibly be immoral.
The exploitation of drugs by mankind that is immoral. Some drugs are dangerous and people should not encourage other people to use them, that is immoral. But on the other hand some drugs are perfectly safe and people should not try to prevent other people from using them if that is what they want to do, otherwise that also is immoral.
The reason people do drugs is because human beings need stimulation. Some people are happy with the stimulation they recieve just from the enjoyment they get from their lives or their jobs or exercising or sex or their successes, others prefer the stimulation they recieve from legal drugs such as alchohol and prescription drugs and some people prefer the stimulation they receive from a variety of different drugs that the athourities see fit to class as "illegal".
Each to their own I say, just research it well so you know what you are getting into and if you're not sure don't do it, and if you havn't tried it you are not in a position to have an opinion on it.

Not everyone agrees that they're immoral. Some people believe positive things about drugs like that they make them more creative for example. Some people don't see the harm which there is admittedly much less of when a person begins than if they become an addict. Some are too addicted to stop even if they can see harm they may be causing.

Often, curiosity. Drugs in themselves are not immoral, but the actions of some people under the influence of drugs are. On the other hand, many people who never do drugs perform very immoral acts, too.
Doing or not doing drugs should be a personal choice. The government has no issue interfering with personal choices that don't affect other people.

Curiosity is one reason. Peer pressure is another. Those are the things that get people started on drugs (and alcohol is included in that too). Other than the physically addictive dynamics of drugs, a main reason people stay on drugs is because it gives them a brief escape from the harshness of reality.

Drugs are illegal, because that's what lawmakers decided.
Morality is a matter of religion and culture. And there are many religions and cultures that do not restrict or limit drug use. To them, drugs are no different than anything else we consume.
So, what makes people do drugs? They choose to. Either because they follow a different religion than yours, or because they don't care about your religious determinations.

Addicts looking for a high. What makes people do anything? Everyone has their own reasons from just enjoying the high to needing an escape from reality to the ones who do them to impress their friends or because their lover does it..

It could be that they think it's fun, and is an exercise of their freedom to enjoy themselves. Or it could be that it cancels the pain of something in their lives, and is therefore also an exercise of their freedom to enjoy themselves. Either way, it's nobody else's business.
