I would not, put down (LU ON) board, it is one eighth thick
comes in 4x8 sheets very inexpensive .u.se nail gun or by hand
that's the best way ( ITS LIKE A NEW SUB FLOOR)

It would also be a good time to check for any dents, chips or low spots in your existing tile floor......all these imperfections will eventually show up in your new floor. There is a spreadable filler you can get from flooring stores that will fill any of these problems, and also fill any deep relief pattern in the old tile, which again, may eventually show through your new flooring

You can do that, just make sure that your seams do not match up, or what is uneven on the bottom will be exaggerated on the top. I have found that the sticky backing of the new tile sticks better to a coat of paint or primer than it does directly to the old flooring itself.

Yes you can go right over the old tile, just be sure it is glued down well or your new tile will come up with it.

yup, what the others have said, just make sure its not comming up. Make sure its clean before you start laying your new tile. Any little dust will end up messing up the adhesive eventually.

Yes, provided none of the old is loose.
Be sure to "offset" the old joints a bit.
