I look in the paper for a good yard sale listing, then drive around the neighborhood it's in as there are usually more near it that aren't listed.

First I look in the local paper. Then I try to narrow down where they all are and then just go to that area. Also, I live in a small town and people post their sale signs about 1 week before the sale so I write them all down.

I do both. I map out the ones in the paper that I want to go to, then look for others on the way.

look in the local paper, listen to local radio station, watch the cable channel that list local info including garage sales.
