Hi.
Just interested in what you all listen to, and whether you fall into target categories for you age.

I'm in my 40's but I love the music scene now.
To be honest I can't understand people of my age not enjoying 'modern' music, as it largely encompasses the music eras I've lived through and enjoyed, from the 1970's to now.

Hearing the birth of a music genre, and then seeing how it develops is fascinating.

I also feel that now I'm in my 40's I can freely enjoy a lot more genres of music than ever before, no peer pressure for me!
If I like it I'll listen to it.

My music collection covers a lot of ground,
from Country to Rap.
Emo to Rock.

Please can you tell me;
your age?
where you live?
what music you enjoy?

Thankyou.

Well looking at my iTunes, I have ranges from everywhere.

From
. Alternative
. Opera(Soundtrack from Phantom of the Opera)
. Pop
. Country
. Rock
. Vocal

I am 14 years old and I pretty much enjoy some weird stuff. I live near L.A. I don't like rap, which most of my peers like, or that "My Humps" stuff. blah!

I like Carrie Underwood(Country)
I like Soundtrack(Phantom of the Opera) love it
I like Fall Out Boy, All American Rejects, The Fray, Kelly Clarkson(Rock)
I like Panic! At The Disco(Alternative)
I love Vocal and Pop from Josh Groban.

I grew up with soft rock, seriously.
Also I grew up with the Beach Boys.
I love them, and some 80's music.

So I don't really count as the "average teen".

That is asking a lot....but here goes.....i am over 50, yes the pic is me and recent....i live in the states.....eastern time zone..no more details than that, but my influences abvout music come from my mother, schooled in classical and generational as well....i played the guitar and cello...originially from hawaii....so diversity is paramount to the way that i think and reason....it must be.
I enjoy the Beatles, and Bach (classical guitar, "The Chaconne', Mozart, Joni Mitchell, Paul Simon, people who are 'wordsmiths'and THAT is a fair and fine art..Bob Dylan is a perfect example as well as Tom Waits....tho i know few who even know of him. I have listened to country music and thereis too close a thread in all of it for me....shot the dog, took the booze, met a girl got a truck...it becomes a bit like one long whine.....so that is out..alternative and instrumentals such as David lLanz and Narada.....with my backround of show tunes, (mom performed at radio city music hall) ~ Vonda Sheperd ...unsung demos that i can no longer find.....i worked in the music industry in L.A. for years....met many a luminary and was NEVER one time weak kneed at meeting anyone. Sean Penn..what a gent....taking u0p the acting part of it,..as the industry is so intertwined, This was before he even married madonna, and i am thrilled with his happy alliance to Robin Wright...both of these people, tho not having met her, are two of the most talented people i have ever seen. i listen to a group called The Waterboys, hailing mainly from Scotland, and the influence of Dylan and doing an instrumental to a poem by Yeats....i have to admit....there is so much that i do like that I am in awe.
Oh good grief I have written yet another treatise not meaning to.....lol...well youasked and i have barely begun.....by the way when i was 9 i was the only kid i knew saving her money to buy Motown music....whitebread world influenced by motor city..well just goes to show you, you just never know about someone until you ask. I wanted to be Annette Funicello and sing like Diana Ross and Julie London.......now THERE is a gene pool.
All for now, you have guts to have gotten this far....

your age?
13

where you live?
Inner city Chicago, IL.

what music you enjoy?
Alternative, punk, grunge, indie, goth, emo, hard rock, some rock and roll, oldies heavy metal, thrash, and even some death metal. I like modern music and music from 20 or 30 years ago. I have CDs that cover everyone from Panic! At the Disco to AFI to Led Zeppelin to the Rolling Stones.

Does it match my age group? Some of it does, some of it doesn't. Most of the kids I go to school with listen to rap, etc. so they think the kids that listen to rock are weird, while some of the kids that listen to some of the same music I do think I'm weird for liking oldies and the occasional Manson song. I personally don't care; I like what I like and it's none of their business what I listen to. I personally think that kids that like rap "music" are crazy and acting stupid to go along with what is popular, but I don't say anything. (They often do.) ;-D

I believe you can listen to any kind of music. Why limit yourself to one kind? Music can always make life better, that's what I think.
