I lent my car to my brother the other day, it caught on fire, won't start anymore and there was puddles of transmission fluid beneath the car. The car had previous transmissions leaks, I'm thinking it might need a seal but not sure, when I try starting it, it seems to want to start, but is making some crunching sounds... any ideas on what could be the problem?

You dont give enough to go on really. Where was the fire located? Seems like maybe a fluid leak caused fire at a converter, and melted starter wiring??

Sounds like you have more than one issue to deal with and you didnt say what kind of car you own so I cant tell you where to start without seeing the car myself, so just have it towed to a shop for a repair estimate. If the car is worth it!
good luck...............

There might be a restriction inside the Tranny, (broken planetary gear) it keeps the flywheel to spin at normal speed. that sound you hear might be that gear rattling inside the tranny.
