I have a s-10 blazer, and the other day it started to spit and sputter.so yesterday i put a bottle of Heet in the gas tank, thinking it might be watery gas.today i tried driving it again, and it still had a big miss in it, and it started smoking. i would appreciate any information i can get as to what it might be.it was running fine before this.

I would get a new set of plugs and wires, change the air and fuel filter and get an oil and filter change. Then get the fuel delivery system cleaned with a good fuel injector cleaner.

First, what's the weather like? Rainy? Distributor cap and rotor may be wet. 2. How old is the Blazer? Yes it may need a tune-up. Three. Another age thing, have you ever changed the fuel filter? May be clogged and starving engine then letting fuel thru. As for the person who says the S 10 Blazer is a crappy car, he/she does not know much. Lots of them around here with well over 100,000 on them and going strong. Thanx for buying American!!!

If that smoke your talking about is white and fairly thick, then you may a blown head gasket. have a compression test done on the engine. If one of the cylinders has low pressure, then you have a bad head gasket. Does the truck run hotter than normal? Check the radiator when the engine is cold to see if you are missing any coolant or if you are fairly low.
good luck........

Tune it up. Check the plugs and wires. S-10 Blazer was a crappy car in the first place.

if its blue/gray smoke then most probably you blew the head gaskets. hopefully you didnt damage the heads. if its blue/gray smoke check your dipstick if it looks like it has water then that is your problem. if its black smoke its burning rich( burning a lot of gas) you would have to get it checked in a shop so tjey can test the injectors and or air fuel Mixture!

Best to take it to a mechanic, there are many things that could do this. Bad gas, broken piston rings, blown head gasket, etc. etc. A compression test is first thing to do to eliminate or confirm basic engine concerns...and go from there. Good luck.......
