Generally there is no actual "right " answer- often it's advice based on opinion and experience. One persons answer may be the opposite of anothers, even though they both feel they are giving the " right" answer. BUT- I agree that often a thumbs down is given to a clear cut "right" answer. I think in that case it's either a guy with a little teenie pecker who is bitter at the world or a woman whose husband is cheating but she won't call him on it and lives life in a black mood.

Yeah!!!!! Succintly put.!!!! There's just no total appreciation for knowledge and well deserved recognition.
Rating it either bad ( thumbs down ) or good ( thumbs up) doesn't earn any points at all. The only time that the thumbs up is good is for the best answerer; who gets an extra point for every thumbs up given for his best answer. Arrogance deserves a point, don't you think?

Good question. I have a hunch people think that they can take away a point with a thumbs down. Of course we know that isn't true, though a thumbs up will give us a point. I think maybe they are just arrogant SOBs.

I have the same question. I would also like to know this!!!
What I think is either they are jealous of the right answers and that they didn't get them first, or they are having a bad day, or they are just miserable people to begin with, or....? open to more suggestions!

Are you informative in your answers ? People like to read such answers other than wikipedia knowledge. Do your answers have concept, a theory that the readers can grasp ? Explaination to the answer is everything.

That's what you know. In their opinion you are not correct. Pretty simple right? Not everyone's a moron!
