Marilyn Monroe Size 10

Even though Marilyn was petite and quite svelte, she had very round hips and a big butt so her size is probably bigger than alot of people think. I have heard a whole lot of different answers to this question. A size 4 to a size 16. Marilyn definately didn't wear a size 4 for sure I don't care how much dress sizes have changed through the decades. You also have to realize to is that back in those days alot of movie stars didn't buy their clothes from designers. They usually had the dresses custom made by a studio tailor or a costume designer(Marilyn's was a guy named Travilla.) So considering that bit it would be really impossible to tell what size she ever wore because her clothes were either borrowed from the studio or custom made. Also Marilyn's weight flucuated heavily all throughout her life and career. As a teenager she was quite chubby with fat cheeks, in the highlight of her career she was fit, when she divorced Arthur Miller she again was chubby, and when she died she was very skinny. So it's really really hard to know exactly what size this girl wore.

Here's the info from the official Marilyn Monroe website:
Height: 5 feet 5 1/2 inches
Weight: Varied, 115 - 120 lbs.
Measurements: 37-23-36 (Studio's Claim); 35-22-35 (Dressmaker's Claim)
Hair color: Blond
Eyes: Blue

So obviously there was a bit of a debate over this fact. So it's hard to know for sure.

I've heard it's a 12!

But back then a 12 was sized more like a 6, so at a regular 12 today she would have had a 26" waist (probably smaller because she was an hourglass), 36" hips and 34" bust, or very close to it.

Well, her measurements were along the lines of a 36-37 inch bust, 23 inch waist and 35-36 inch hips, so that would have made her a size 8-10 on the bust, size 0 on the waist and size 4-6 on the hips. She was one curvy lady!

HTH : )

if you take her measurements that others have posted above, her bust and hips make her a modern day size 10. Her waist is like a 0 or 2 tops. I check out Ann Taylor's Website, At J crew her bust is size 8 - 10, wasit is 0-2, and hips 8 - 10.

So good chance, in modern day sizes she was about a size 12.

back then who knows...sizes have changed a lot since she was alive.

It was said that she wore a size 16, but by todays standards it would be size 12.

I've read 14 but a 14 in the 50s wasnt the same as a 14 now. Maybe she was a 10 or so? She definitely had a little belly & large boobies.
