I love the Carpenters. Both Karen and Richard are my idols!! My favorite songs by them are "Top of the World", "Can't Smile Without You", "Reason to Believe", "Bless the Beasts and Children", and "(A Place to) Hideaway". I love a lot more, as well. I have most of their CDs and vinyl records. I also own some of their singles.

The first record album I ever bought was The Carpenters "A song for you" and I have been a fan for life. I collected all of their albums and a couple years ago received as a gift a dvd about them, and their music.

Karen Carpenter had a voice like no other. It was so pure and rich, in tune, had clarity and was full of sweetness and soul. She truly sang from her heart. Richard's arrangements and music created the sound of The Carpenters.

I think their songs are timeless and to pick just one is difficult isn't it? I know I sang along to every song and know most all of the lyrics by heart.

I loved so many, to name a few, "Rainy Days and Mondays", "Only Yesterday ", "I Need to Be in Love", "Sometimes", "Superstar" and "Goodbye to Love", "For All We Know" "There's a Kind of Hush", even Karen's version of the Beatles "Ticket to Ride" (I think that was their first album) was so good.

Their Christmas album is a favorite of mine, I own it on CD now.

"Yesterday Once More" is what comes to mind in replying to your question because it brings it all back again.

Karen is dearly missed by all her fans and we need more singers like her and more groups like The Carpenters. I don't think that will ever happen though, so we treasure the music, it does live on.

P.S. OK I bought "A Song for you" In 1973, it was $5.99 from Woolworths. ha ha I can still remember because it was the very first album I ever bought and that music touched my heart.

The Carpenters sad songs were perfect for when I was feeling blue, and their upbeat songs and the melodies of Karen and Richard really could lift the spirits.

Thanks for this question. It's nice to see that they are loved as much by someone else. I know I've never stopped loving their music, and I doubt I ever will.

I would say Karen was one of the best female singers EVER from America. :)

P.P.S. Almost every wedding that took place in the 1970's had The Carpenters "Close to you" Or "For all we know" as a part of the ceremony.
