Can i keep pimelodus blochii ( striped pictus ) in a gravel substrate ( rocks ) or do they need sand.?

Either one will work just fine. I would stay towards the smaller smoother gravel though, not the really large or rough types.

Gravel is fine for your cat. They originate from rivers so a rocky bottom is great for them.
