What can they use to remove the sap without damaging the paint or the finish???

BUG & TAR is a product that can be found at Wal-mart or Advanced Auto Parts or AutoZone. There are also about 20 other similar products.
You could also try getting an idea by looking at some item online at partsamerica.com. They are a huge distributer of car parts and supplies. They supply Advanced Auto.

bug tar remover wont hurt the paint and should get most of thar stuff off
