So i am taking care of a friends fish and i have tropical freshwater fish of my own. the fish that i just got are about three times the size of my own. can i put them in the same tank or not?

No. Anything a fish can fit in its mouth is what it will eat, including your small tropical fish.... I'm guessing you have neon tetras, glow lights etc. and the fish your friend has are probably dwarf gouramis, barbs etc. If they are dwarf gouramis, you probably can. If they are Trichogaster (bigger gouramis and they are NOT tropical fish they are semi- aggressive), you really shouldn't or your fish will be your friend's fish's lunch. Just ask her if she has a bigger tank that you can put them in. Hope this helps! :-)

It really depends on the types of fish. As a general rule, if a bigger fish can fit a smaller one in his mouth, he probably will.

Little fish tend to get eaten by bigger fish.
