They are calling our bluff. They are seeing what they can get away with. Iran hears our threats, but they also see that this war is loosing support. They want to find our limits, and I think they have.
It is also retaliation for similar moves we have made on them.

It's 1979 happening all over again(50 American hostages back then), but this time with the British soldiers...Britain and the US need to stand firm against Iran and not give up(like liberals always want the military to do) or else Iran will go further to see how far it can go before any serious kind of retaliation by the US and Britain..

I think they keep trying to up the ante and up the ante until we get fed up and finally declare war on them. They want to make the U.S. look like the bad guys so they just keep provoking us. This fuels the image that they are trying to present to the rest of the world, that Christians are bad and Islam is good. They want the other Muslim countries to ally with them against us, so if they poison the neutral countries with the thought that we want to run the world, they can get more of them involved. There are these jihadists who want to blame every little thing on the U.S. in order to inflame the rest of the Muslims to conspire against us all in an effort to achieve their own agendas and personal gains.

They think the second coming of allah is going to happen soon and so they are flexing their tongues, so to speak.
They certainly don't want to look weak when he arrives or there will be hell to pay.
