No, I don't think it's the most racist. However, people that think there is not racism here are clearly very naive. There definitely is racism here. It is not just hawaiian vs. haoles either. There is also groups of japanese who don't like chinese who don't likes whites who don't like blacks--you get the picture. The Native Hawaiians did have there land taken from them by white mainlanders. I'm sure that is very difficult for them to continue watching outsiders come in and build and develop and buy land that they can no longer afford. I'm am sure this is where alot of the hatred towards haoles comes from. Contrary to a prior posters comment you don't have to be hawaiian to buy land here. In addition, while yes HI is supported by tourism, what you have to realize is that tourists only go to certain portions of the islands (tourist destinations). That is why when people have only visited and not lived here--they believe that the entire island is filled with this aloha spirit. There are parts of this island (Oahu) that as a white person I will not go to without a local. I have been warned by several of my hawaiian friends that if I were to visit these places by myself--I would regret it.

First of all it doesnt matter how much Hawaiian you have to be able to go to the islands.

But Hawai'i can be very racist at times. Hawai'i is probobly the most racially diverse place in the United States, there is just about every race here and the culture of the local people who were born here is a combination of cultures. First of all you should know this, the largest ethinicity in Hawai'i ironicly is not Hawaiian, its Japanese and Hawaiians are not the only ones who become racist and angry, other races such as the immigrant ones, for example filipino, samoan, tongan can be just as much if not more racist then Hawaiians, Hawaiians just get blamed for everything.

Racisim in Hawai'i usually starts when one race or person of a race, is disrespectful to another persons racial background or culture. This is most common with white people from the base, they tend to be some of the most disrespectful people you will ever see, especially to the local peopels cutlure. That is why it is basically in locals, remember not only Hawaiians, culture to look down on white people. But remember racial tensions does not always involve everybody hating white people.

I used to live in Hawaii (my husband was stationed there.) The issue about not being able to go to a certain island is that you have to be so much Hawaiian to live there. They want to keep the Hawaiian culture there instead of having all of the commercialism around. They aren't racist. There are so many different cultures on the other islands. The most racist states are the ones where they still have the hate groups who target you just because of your skin color.

There is one island of the major eight that is privately owned by a family, the Robinsons. In order to preserve traditional Hawaiian life the family permits only persons of substantially pure Hawaiian ancestry to live on or to even visit the island, Niihau. It operates as a cattle ranch. I don't think there are any modern conveniences there, possibly even no electricity. Since it is private property, it is the owners' to do with as they chose. The Kamehameha Schools are funded by the estate of Bernice Pauahi Bishop, and her will decreed that only persons of substantially pure Hawaiian ancestry could attend schools supported by her estate. Again, it is a private decision by the grantor. It is good to maintain a culture rather than have it submerged or subsumed into the larger anglo culture. The Hawaiian language was down to about 8000 speakers as recently as 1980 but thanks to efforts to preserve the culture there are now tens of thousands of speakers. The culture continues, it flourishes, and that is a good thing. The world is a better place having the Hawaiian culture. It is not deliberately racist, please understand, it has no hostility to white people at all, it is simply to maintain the Hawaiian culture.

My friend's brother goes to college in Hawaii, and all the Hawaiians are racist against him [he's white]. So I don't know if it is the MOSTracist state, I don't know if a "most racist" state exists, but it is uniquely racist, because a lot of them don't like white people. And how often do you hear about racism against white people? Exactly.

No, I don't think you have ever been to Arkansas and don't ever bother going it's not worth it. I would say Arkansas is the most racists with extreme prejudice on both black and white sides. I do not think Hawaiians are racist in fact they are the most accepting and loving people I have met they are just trying to preserve their culture and I respect that. Most of the places you are talking about are natural reserves and they do that for very good reasons because as part of the culture it is up to them to take care of their land.

The Hawaiians are very clannish and proud of being Hawaiian. They are also probably the most unfriendly people I have ever met anywhere. They are interested in one thing, how much money they can get from you as a tourist. It is almost like if they could put a gun to your head, take your money and send you back to where ever you came from that is what they would do.

Well I don't know specifically about that...but I do know that the native hawaiians hate white people, and they all say that if there was ever a breakdown in law and all order, all the white people would be killed in about 5 minutes. That's pretty racist, indeed!

not at all! you have to be actually native hawaiian (skin color and everything), or have some in you, to own land in Hawaii. they are not racist though. the most racist state would be in the south for sure, man they are the worst i have seen! no offense to any southerners that aren't racist! oh yeah and what that kjv_gods dude said way above me, he is wrong. we didn't murder anyone, and it was their queen not king. he doesn't know what he's talking about.
