Does it have to be level (even) with the rest of my lawn? It's about an inch or so thick and in some places it is higher than the lawn that the sod is laid next to -- I had to reset my sump pump pipe back down into the ground, cover it back up with dirt and laid the sod overtop which runs alongside my sidewalk, but -- it's not evenly level with the rest of the lawn. Should I just take up the sod and lay grass seeds, or lift the sod up, take out some dirt and relay the sod to try and make it level with the rest of my yard, or will it even itself out once it attaches to my lawn. Sorry I'm not very well educated on lawn and gardening. I do know I need to water it daily for at least two weeks. Thanks for all answers.

It's hard to believe it's only 1" and noticable. 15 blocks is not much. I would soak it down, pull the sod and try a stiff garden rake to loosen the soil. You should be able to recede the sod enough to make it level. The main thing is that if it's bothering you now, do something. Once it's rooted, it's too late. Besides, you will never be able to overlook it when you run a mower across it.

It is very unlikely it will level itself. Take out a row or two and remove some dirt to get it level with surrounding grass. If you leave an exposed edge that area of sod may die back and make the transition even more noticeable.
Yes water it daily for a while till it is able to root into the existing soil.

Up with the sod, out with some of the dirt and you'll be fine.
Or compact the ground some where the new sod has been laid.

It should level out once the dirt around your pump and pipes settles.
