So do you really think it's possible to "destabilize" a part of the world where death 'cults' run rampant with no one even speaking out against them, gay men are legally beaten and killed in the streets, women have their genitals mutilated as children so they don't turn into 'whores' and the populations of most every country don't even have the capability to run a democratic government?
The Middle East is for the most part a Third-World hell hole. If it were not for the pathetic situation in Africa, the ME would be the ******** of the world.
It's too bad really. A thousand years ago the Arabs were leaps and bounds more civilised and advanced than Europeans or anyone else. Since that time they have actually RE-gressed to a brutal, ignorant and barbaric peoples, and they resent what they have become and that's why they hate everyone and everything.
Let to themselves, these people just resort to murdering each other like rabid dogs.
The best thing we could do for these poor people is to destablize the place and maybe someone with some sense can take over.

It would be very unwise to start a war with Iran. There is no question that the US has a mighty military force. Yet the military option would destabilize the region even further. Iranians are Persians. However, they have a lot of minority groups such as the Kurds, Azeris, Beluchis, Arabs, and the list goes on. If we attack Iran, the country would disintegrate and fall into chaos. What is worse than a bad regime is no regime. It would be bad for us if we would further push the region into chaos. Why are we there in the first place? It serves our interest to be there. We want stability in the region.
However, I have no idea what the Bush administration wants to do.

OK, here's a lesson you probably forgot from your childhood: when you start cleaning your room, you create disorder, and it looks a lot worse than before you started. However, once everything starts going in its proper place, the room begins to look like it should, neat and clean.
We are literally transforming a region. It's going to take a lot to change centuries of backwardness. Another Yahoo! answerer unintentionally made a prescient comment. He noted that during the Middle Ages, Christianity forcefully prevented society from progressing because the church realized that science would disprove its teachings. My reply was, "You mean that, even when the Western world is forcibly prevented from making any forward progress, the Muslim world.................. in ONE THOUSAND YEARS, couldn't outpace it? That's pretty pathetic, isn't it?
It may be messy now, but realize that the United States was a rather messy place during our infant democracy too. There is a joke that, when Americans are dissatisfied with their government, they write a nasty letter to their congressman. When the French are dissatisfied, they have riots and burn cars. When the Muslims are dissatisfied, they blow up each other's mosques.
Read the website below. It puts things in perspective.

According to the new map for the balance of powers in the Middle East & the hurrying of the birth of the project of the New Middle East which is to replace the Arab League to include Israel, i think it only takes one move : to hit either Iran or Syria. If USA hits Iran & Syria will hold her peace the Hizbullah will move against Syria by order of Iran. But if USA hits Syria, Iran will hold her peace as she has oil to bargain with USA & she isnt exactly Iraq material: one nation, one religion, i.e. rigid entity. Hence Syria wil be destroyed, Lebanon will be open ground for allied forces, Israel will have peace as Hizbullah will go down with Syria as a minor sacrifice coz of lack of ammunition. So with no Syria to cloud the atmosphere, no hizbullah to irk Israel, & no Iran to instigate hizbullah : no problem destablization for a while in return for harmony as a reaction to massive force; i.e. burned forest policy.

I think the Middle East is responsible for itself. Liberals need to understand the term - PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY a little better.
Iran helped stir-the-pot over there by taking prisoners.

Peace and stability in the middle east DOES NOT make money, hence a foreign policy that constantly keeps the region on the verge of WWIII.
