Love is a human instinct...so we can't really help it. You could avoid it as much as possible so you can't get hurt but sometimes thats bad because you could really miss out on a great oppurtunity....
Apart from that, yeah...love is something we can't control..
Oh yeah, also if people didnt "love" another person we wouldnt have babies. ugh.

Many philosophers have stated that life is about wanting new things. When we love we want something or someone and consider it as a reason to live.

Because the reward out weighs the risk. Remember South Park when Butters was dumped by his new "girlfriend"? He said he was sad but it was beautiful sadness, because something that could make you feel that bad must mean something made you feel that good.

Why do we:
Eat more than we should knowing it will make us fat?
Have unprotected sex knowing we might get pregnant or get an STD?
Drink too much, knowing it will give us a hangover the next day?
Because it feels good.

because we were born to suffer as Jesus Christ suffered, and we were born to live again as Christ has, of course for those whom believe.
