You really can't "measure" love. the feelings associated with love come from a chemical interaction between oxytocin, adrenalin, and other chemical messengers in the sympathetic nervous system. This chemical reaction ideally lasts for about 7 years. (IE "the 7 year itch") not saying that after that the love isn't there but it then switches to a comfort and saticficing situation where the lack of their presence is uncomfortable. sorry to kill cupid but it's just better to enjoy someones company without seeing who loves who more. Does it really matter?

There are measurements to measure any solid, liquid or semi-liquid and semi-liquid. But no measurement to measure LOVE. It is immeasurable. LOVE is a feeling from the heart, within the heart and expression of like and dislike towards the other guy or friend or mother or father and even the beloved. There is difference in all these types of LOVE. One has to experience love by oneself. No measure.

I understand that when a person is in love, there are extra chemicals released in the brain. That's one of the reasons it makes you feel so good.
I imagine that could be measured, but no one has come up with a way to do it yet.

Love purely as emotion? No, it's too subjective.

I suspect that you could quantify behaviors that people identify to be actions of love. You'd probably have to survey lots of people on what they perceive as actions of love. Then you could observe and quantify the actions' appearances. However, I suspect that even with this, the results could be questionable due to the variances of people's perceptions of actions.

I once had a friend who punched someone in the arm when she was tapped on the shoulder. I think she was abused as a child and this example has nothing to do with love. It does illustrate how people react and perceive differently. Most people wouldn't have reacted like her because they wouldn't have had the perception of a threat.

Love can be roughly measured by how much we are willing to give of ourselves and expect nothing in return.

Most people are only capable of loving someone else when that person loves them back. True love is loving someone who may or may not love us. However, a romantic relationship will not survive unless both people give of themselves.

If love is defined as a set of behaviors as opposed to a warm, fuzzy, rather transient feeling then measuring love becomes much easier. Answer the two following questions in behavioral terms:
1. When I love someone, I frequently__________________.
2. I feel loved when my partner _________________.
As a counselor for many years one of the things that I helped couples with was coming up with their individual definitions (in behavioral terms) of love. It is important to realize that people do not define love in the same way and you have to communicate to your partner what you need from them in order to feel loved. For many couples it really is a communication problem and not really a problem with giving and receiving love. I hope this helps. good luck.

Rent a chakraometer. It is capable of "measuring" the output from each of your 7 basic chakras. Just tune it for the heart chakra, while in close proximity to various people in your life. Quite remarkable :)))

Nothing can measure love because it is intangible. Love if a feeling that not even words can describe with accuracy.
