My stepmother wants Buttercups, but the way she described them is they have a trumpet - like yellow flower. I have been to a greenhouse and on the internet, but the flower they call Buttercup is a ground cover with tiny yellow flowers.

You might try calling a nursery in Maine, or the University of Maine agriculture department. Buttercups grow wild in Maine fields.

Hi, A true buttercup is in the LATIN family Ranunculies?

I am not sure about the last three letters in the Ranuncul...i? e? s?
But I Think it is close enough to GOOGLE and get a picture of a buttercup, yellow with four or five flat petals and fern like leaves.

Maybe ask her when in the season it blooms, AND tell us what state she lived in when she saw them and some one can help identify the plant for you!

The only flower that I know of that is yellow in color would be the daffodil, easter lilly, johnny jump ups, narcissis,
jonquil all of the same family.

Browse thru these links and show her the pictures.
