You can get a good advantage if you know the person well enough.
I know my brother enough that I remember that he always picks rock first, rock second, paper third, and scissors fourth.
Other than that, it's pure luck!

You can suck at paper, or if it's a small enough rock. Be careful when you suck the scissors, though.
No, seriously. It's just a matter of reading the other player, and getting them to read you incorrectly. That's not psychic, it's just observation.

When I was little I thought it had to be skill cause my
brother would always beat me. But I figured out
how he was doing it. He would wait just a few
seconds after I would choose and then win.
After that it was just luck because we had to
try at the same time or I wouldn't play.

Yes but always pick rock because if they pick paper just say: "I win because I throw the rock at your head and smother you with the paper" you'll never lose

lol, i'm really really really good at rock paper scissors, but it's cuz i cheat. I can tell with the motion of their hand what they're about to choose. I put my hand down a teensy weensy bit slower than they do and i can figure out which "weapon" they'll bust out before they're hand is completely out. mwa ha ha ha ha......

There is skill. You really have to pay attention to your opponent's pattern of what they throw out. And they usually DO have a pattern. Once you've figured out, you can cream 'em because you know what they're gonna throw.

it's luck/chance, although i'm sure most people go through a certain set of patterns, and if a person has enough practice with it, they may be able to pick up your pattern and therefore, WIN.
