in government buildings? If there has to be a law against carrying an AK-47 into the White House surely there has to be a law against making it avaliable to any one who has the money to buy one?

For the same reason that you can't yell "FIRE" in a crowded theater, even though we have freedom of speech.

First, the right to bear arms is not fundamental.

Unlike most of the rest of the Bill of Rights (except the 7th), the 2nd was never declared a fundamental right, and never incorporated to apply against the states. So the states can regulate firearms as much as they want. So, no issue with regard to state govt buildings.

As far as federal govt buildings, even where rights are fundamental, or as here with the 2nd, they are not absolute. The govt can take necessary steps for a compelling reason. Security in a govt building is a compelling reason, and searching for weapons is narrowly tailored to that goal. So, even if the right was fundamental, it could still be regulated to that small degree.

By chance did you study at the same schools GWB did? But, you do have a point, so buy an AK-47 and go to the White House, then let us all know about the U.S. Constitution. Gee, whiz, why can't people think more sensibly.

The Second Amendment exists. If you don't accept restrictions, you have the legal right to challange restsrictive laws in court. There are no specific limits on the right to bear arms in the Constitution, so any law that limits your right is un-Constitutional.
If you want to carry an assault rifle into the White House, challange the law in court.

They have metal detectors because they want to stay alive. Yeah you have the right to bear arms, but remember under which circumstances that law was made. To protect yourself. Not to go forth and kill people you want. It was meant for defense, not offense. While you have a right to bear arms, I also have a right to protect myself from you.

Well Freedom of speech is a fundamental right and we don't allow anyone to say anything...i.e. libel, slander..ect...

All freedoms need to be regulated to an extent or we would have anarcy....you can have the gun..you just can't take it to court or a football game....why do you need it there?
