I like to eat butterscotch candies or peppermints. They are soothing and taste better than throat drops. Icecream is great too.

Boiled ginger is great for your throat. Thinly slice a gingerroot and boil the slices for about 20 minutes in a big pan of water on the stove. Strain out the ginger pieces and drink the water. Sweeten it with honey and sip gently. Keep the leftovers in the fridge and heat them in the microwave or on the stove to repeat the process. Whenever you're sick, use honey as a sweetener because it's a natural antibiotic. It doesn't hurt to have a little extra help fighting off whatever bug got you.

I had a sore throat for a week straight that I jsut got over yesterday. I found that warm liquids with honey (I mostly drank herbal tea) in them really helped, and sucking on hard candies. Also, not breathing through my mouth really helped, especially at night. And ibuprofen.
Some people like to gargle warm saltwater, which I could never do, but I geuss it's helpful.

A tea made from Osha root, Ginger, honey & lemon. The Osha will numb it somewhat and is antisceptic. Honey will coat and ginger & lemon are both excellent healers.
It will tast nasty but worth it. You should be able to find it from your local herbalist (just look in the phone book) if you cant find it, just do the ginger honey & lemon.
