IQ is a number meant to measure people cognitive abilities (intelligence) in relation to their age group. An I.Q between 90 and 110 is considered average; over 120, superior.

Roughly 68% of the population has an IQ between 85 and 115. The average range between 70 and 130, and represents about 95% of the population. A score below 70 may indicate mental retardation, and a score above 130 may indicate intellectual giftedness. 1% of the population has an IQ of 136 or higher. However, an individual scoring 100 within one population can score above or below that value within another population, for example, the Japanese are supposed to have the highest average IQ in the world (115), but this 115 can only be an average of 100 within their own population. The highest IQ was 228, according to Guinness Book of Records, this score belongs to the “smartest” person in the world Marilyn vos Savant who scored it when he was 10 year old. This would, according to recent research, correspond to about IQ 185 at adult age. That score is, at least, surpassed by the chess player and champion Bobby Fisher which was 187, and Kim Ung-Yong (S. Korea) with a score over 200.

Who is the smartest person?
I don’t think anyone has an accurate answer to that question; however some psychologists believe that William James Sidis reached the maximum capacity possible for a human. In the Buzan's Book of Mental World Records, the highest IQ score ever attained is assigned to the history's greatest genius Leonardo Da Vinci. The estimate is a nearly unbelievable adult IQ of 220... There you go smarty pants, figure it out.

Mental retardation is usually defined as an IQ under 70 (though this depends on the standard deviation). Average is 100. There is no threshold for genius.

Remember that there is no universal IQ scale. The average will always be 100, but how high or low a score is depends on the Standard Deviation (SD) of the test. Most tests use a SD of 15 or 16, but some tests use 24 where a score of 148 would translate to 130 on a test that uses SD 15.

There is also no highest IQ possible. Most tests have a maximum possible score you can get on them (For example, the most common professional test in the USA, WAIS, has a maximum possible score of 160 SD 15). However, in theory IQ has no limitation.

Statistically the smartest person in the world currently living would have an IQ of around 195 SD 15. The smartest person to haved ever walked the face of the Earth, 200-205 SD 15.

At any moment an Alien from another planet could land on Earth though, and have an IQ of 1000. IT is also possible a human could score over 205 on an IQ test (given that the test could actually measure that high), but it would be incredibly improbable.

What Is The Highest Iq

Human calculator has average IQ score. It is a test of how well rounded you are. People who are well rounded are more likely to breed. It is like saying the people who get the highest grades in school are better at learning than applying it in a practical situation. The most successful people aren t typically the happiest people. The second best is what the IQ is testing for, depending on your interpretation.

Very clever how you threw everyone off your scent by misspelling those words. Maybe you're a comic genius? :) Pay no attention to them. But also keep in mind, the only way you can prove you're a genius is to excel at something. Stephen Hawking's IQ is only 140, yet he surmised radiation must emit from Black Holes. This was proven and is now called Hawking Radiation. Marilyn Vos Savant's IQ is over 200, and that's her claim to fame. She now answers questions in her advice column in Parade magazine.

If that isn't proof of "it ain't what you got, it's what you do with it", then I don't know what is.

Totally agree with Eva and Jack people learn and experience life differently, because of their background and experiences. The questions on the iq test is irrelevent and shouldn't define how smart an individual is.

I think their are strengths that every one has and this whole IQ thing is kinda ridiculous because if you really think about it

every person that you will ever meet knows something that you don't and you know something that they don't so how can you possibly put a number on how informative or knowledgeable someone is when they live two different lives and experience different things?

IQ's can be higher being in contact with another person who is compatible with you.In other words Lennon got smarter with McCartney and George Harrison got smarter being around the both of them. Not by "learning" but by osmosis. The Beatles were the group with the greatest IQ for music, fashion, philosophy and many others.
