When I am going from 0-60 pressing down on the gas hard. The car shifts from all the way to the 4th gear. But I have to let up on the gas then press it again to get it going in 4th. What can be wrong?

It is a 94 Honda Accord V-tec. It is an automatic. I have flushed the transmission fluid. Also put a new fuel filter on it. That seemed to help a little bit.

Your shift point may need adjusting.

By holding down the throttle you are forcing a downshift. The trans will stay in a lower gear to obtain the torque to aquire the speed needed. This is normal.

automatic? How old? could b bands going bad. torque converter, leak at seals, burnt fluid, basically it sounds like you have to take pressure off of it to let it shift, do you have overdrive button try it with it turned off and see what happens

scan the computer, see what it has to say. if it is any thing like other transmissions, which it really is not, it sounds like a detent cable problem, the older transimissions used this cable to sense a load, and would extend the time in gear accordingly

Im thinking maybe an adjustment in your bands or the torque converter is the problem.
