100 years ago it was the Republicans who were more liberal and Democrats were mostly from the south and more conservative. Then after the great depression, WWII, Civil Rights Era, etc a lot of people switched parties and also the parties' views changed over time. Is this type of change happening again but in some other form? Like for example we now see a lot more pro-business Democrats and more pro-immigration Republicans.

There will always be liberals and conservatives. Either can be a member of Republican or Democrat party.
Conservative ideals don't change. Less government, less government spending, less government controls.
Liberals don't change. More government, more taxes, more government control.
