Like, I notice that MOSTLY black people tell me wearing my hair natural and wearing cornrows are ugly and UNPROFESSIONAL. Blacks ALSO TELL ME NOT TO BE TOO ETHNIC AND ASSIMILATE TO WHITE STANDARDS. But the white co-workers are AMAZED at how my hair can be styled in that wear. I get HARDLY any flack from white peers about my culture, ONLY BLACKS! So, why do BLACK SELF-HATE THEIR ART FORMS?

Because not all blacks are a common culture. Just as not all whites share a common culture.

Be proud of your race, ethnicity or culture. I would say that the blacks are ashamed of their culture because they don't know much about it, perhaps nothing at all. But if you do, be proud and wear your hair however you want to. It's actually quite sad that any blacks would tell you to "become white." If you are black, there is only one race that you can be and that is black - no matter how you act or how your hair looks like, you will always be black. Remember, it is best to listen to others who will make you feel inferior or make you feel socially unaccepted. And yes, your white co-workers are right, you probably do have nice hair.

Be proud and represent who you are and where you are from - it is part of makes you who you really are.

Because deep down inside, they still feel discriminated against. So they want to fit in with everyone else. Oh, being black is not a culture. It's just the color of your skin. What is Black Art? That sounds like black magic. Maybe you mean African-Americans. Which is also not a culture. More like an ethnicity.

Boy, that is really a generalization. What i read in your statement is that YOU hate your culture because, of the negative stereotyping generalizations you said you are experiencing from black Americans who feel like less because of their color. That's too bad. Actually, there is only one race, the human race. Skin color is really, i believe, an evolutionary event, and is of no consequence. However, culture is a different thing, not designed by evolution, and a lot of folks feel threatened by cultural differences. Just be true to yourself. be who you are in your center, and ignore the ignorance

We dont hate our culture we just choose to not wear our hair natural coz its hard to maintain it that way..About Black being a culture..Black is not a culture its nothing but a race..Blacks from different countries have different cultures, we dont all share the same culture just because we share the same skin tone..

You're right on few levels, try not to be so stereotypical. Black isn't a culture, and neither is White. Everyone has a different way of acting, no matter what color of skin they have.

It's a form of ignorance and self hatred instituted by the white societal norms since before the emancipation proclamation went into effect. It's even older than that. Black people have been bombarded so long with the idea that what comes natural to us is unattractive (especially Americans) that they are actually subscribing to the bullsh*t. So many black Americans are ignorant to their heritage that it has been harmful to their self image. A lot of white people are ignorant to their heritage in the sense that they don't realize just how much in their history has been stolen and replicated from histories so much older than theirs (like the ancient African history), but they are the predominant culture and they are so arrogant, that they will choose ignorance to perpetuate the myth of their superiority. In enforcing that myth, naturally they have to subjugate black people, and the sad part is, black people have actually submitted themselves willingly to this. There are not many of us that have the education, pride and ancestral knowledge to know how great a race of people we really are.

At one time, everyone had a beard, now it is considered a sign of rebellion.
Personally, I love looking at the different hair styles you are able to do with your hair.
I also understand it saves you a lot of time in the long run because you can keep it that way for many weeks.
So maybe it not that they dislike what you have done, maybe it's just that they wish the had taken the time to do it too.

Because alot of people of every race have bought into the idea that multiculturalism means no defined culture. It is for mindless sheep who lack character. A "wigger" and an "uncle tom" are the same loathsome creature with different skin color.

Blacks are usually trying to shove their anti-culture down our throats. Blacks think we should have plenty of section 8 housing in our neighborhoods and tolerate their gangs, crime, graffiti, loud rap noise in our nice White communities and if we don't then they get some Jew lawyers to sue.
