People ask questions to be enlightened. People are annoyed because they assume that since they know the answer, you should as well.

I am not trying 2 be funny--- but out of curiosity, the same way u ask us a question, u wanted a answer. People may get annoyed when asked why something is the way it is because
They may think the question is stupid.
They disagree
They don't understand
They just want 2 be heard
U may have hit a nerve or soft-spot with them
They feel u have no right 2 ask them that
The person u asked the question 2 may not be intelligent enough 2 answer it
CLEVER QUESTION- u knew people would get annoyed with this ?

To know how do other people feel about certain situations. Also to examine the good things and right things or the consequences of a situation. Most of the time people can give good advice but they cannot apply it to themselves. Some people get annoyed because they thought that the question you are asking is answerable by just taking a second pondering your question

People ask questions because they are curious, they want to hear peoples opinions and because they are interested in a subject they want to know more about. People may get annoyed when asked why something is like it is because they can't really answer the question other than to say"that's just the way it is". I can't imagine why else it would bother them. Asking questions is a good way to get to know someone and what they are like, what their beliefs and values are.

Because people are curious and want to learn new things.
Personally, I'd get annoyed if my questions are never answered.
Questions make life more interesting and fun.
Sometimes, it really depends on the questions. Some of the answers are very obvious or just unexplainable, people need to just have some common sense before question why, why, why?? all the time.

I ask questions (even if I know the answer) to find out about how other people think and they get annoyed because they know the answer but they can explain it.

People ask questions because they need information. People get annoyed by some why questions because they are often rhetorical in nature which means there is really no answer to them.

I imagine the thirst for knowledge as a survival trait. The animals who know that there is a poisonous plant to the west will better survive, and if they find out how it works and learn to use it as medicine, they will survive even longer.
As for the second half of your question, I would imagine it's because when you question someone it can viewed as a challenge to their knowledge. This offends some people as they see it as mistrust on the part of the asker.

They're seekers of knowledge... sometimes like a child who enters the world and wants to know "ma who made this tree?" or why is this like this" the curiosity of a child is innocent" A very good game is to ask a child questions like "where does chocolate milk come from? or what are clouds made off? I asked my sis the 1st question and she said you feed chocolate to a cow and you get chocolate milk!
