I don't believe the British have done anything wrong. I certainly wish the British would take a stronger stance against Iran. I wasn't all that excited about the Iraq War, but in this case, I'm all for military intervention; but now the West is just sitting on its thumbs. It's shades of Chamberlain & appeasement...

Sorry for what? The Iranians have no proof that the Brits were in Iranian waters. Why wasn't the capture made by the Iranian Navy? This whole issue is a ploy to draw attention away from the fact that the entire UN agreed to censure that group of deranged old fools running Iran.

I have no clue. But I smell trouble a-brewing. I just don't get why both sides are so pig-headed. Iran - for not understanding that no one looks kindly on them these days and Blair - for using politically charged words, pretending to be in charge when he's totally crapping his pants about his people protesting the war in Iraq.

He shouldn't do anything that will allow Ahmadinejad to score political points at home.

Plus, if the sailors weren't in Iranian waters, then he should stand on the truth. Lies are a bad basis for diplomacy.

let me get the facts straight. apology for what? sorry for what? true when lives are involved...even diplomatic lies will be OK....i do suggest "diplomatic lies -- yes sir, we are sorry" end of the letter -- hope the
sailors are back as soon as the letter is
read..unfortunately you are not dealing with "normal" people. politics is involved, world media is involved and the situations drags on..look at the Israel-i captives soldiers --including 2 wars...and bloody ones at that -- no one has been freed and now there are doubts..they are alive...(read recent news). It is a mess out there because communication is done east-west....and not win win situations...hope it helps...
(ps. i wish i would work for the govt. and they would pay me for my advice)

What for?? They were not in Iranian waters! And even if they were, Iran still doesn't deserve an appolgy. The Iranians are the ones who kidnapped them at gun point and are keeping them hostage.

I have to say if Blair Does say sorry, I as a British citizen will be mortified.

I think he should do or say whatever necessary to get the soldiers back and then the US and UK should blockade the river and every Iranian port and dare the Iranians to do something about it. Take their so-called navy hostage and prevent any oil being exported from Iran.

Are you sure that the ship was in Iranian waters ? If you were Blair and you felt strongly that your ship was not in their waters, would you apologize ?

I think he should apologize, get the sailors back, and then apologize for eliminating Iran's Navy and atomic facilities, as soon as he has completed those much needed tasks.

Politicians are always tough when its other peoples lives that are at stake. Blair is just trying to emulate his idol, Thatcher, who sacrificed British soldiers lives to show just how tough she was.
