I thought it was excellent. I really enjoyed it and think its the best opening episode of the three new series so far. Certainly bodes well for the rest of the series. I'm looking forward to the next twelve episodes immensely and am awaiting the appearence of actors like John Simm and Derek Jacobi with baited breath (not to mention the return of Captain Jack).

I liked Martha and think that she has a lot of promise, but I hope we don't see too much of her family as I found them quite annoying. Mind you she seemed to find them annoying as well, so perhaps that was the point.

I have to say I thought the Judoon were a bit silly. Rhino headed intergalactic police. Why would aliens have heads so closely resembling Earth animals like Rhinos? Hopefully the reason will be explained at some point in the future.

I was intrigued by the plasmavore though. I wonder if there's any connection with the 7th Doctor story "The Curse of Fenric" which featured blood sucking haemovores. Could Martha have some connection with the "Wolves of Fenric" like Ace did? I'm probably getting a bit too far ahead of things with this, but either way it will be fun finding out.

I'm delighted that David Tennant has signed up for the 4th series (or 30th if you've watched it since 1963 like I have). I reckon he's easily the best Doctor since Tom Baker.

rosie - no need to apologise - I think its absolutely wonderful that the new DW is so popular again with younger viewers, and has attracted such a loyal and knowledgable young audience (I grew up with it myself, afterall). Looks like the shows future is assured.

All I can say is...Wow! I enjoyed the episode intensely, and am very much looking forward to the next 3 months of Whoness. Especially looking forward to 'Blink' as it sounds particularly scary (thanks to Mr. Moffat, writer of that terrifying episode 'Empty Child') and 'Utopia', just because I want to see how the scripts accommodate the reappearance of Captain Jack.

I was quite impressed by Martha, as throughout the teaser trailers I have been cursing her for replacing Rose. I think she will be a fantastic addition to the show.

I would also like to apologise to spacephantom, as I'm not a fan who has been watching since 1963 (for the very good reason that I'm only 15) but I am trying to watch some of the older ones. I agree though, David Tennant, great Doctor. ^^

I watched it.. off of YouTube... this afternoon. I did not care for it. I like them all individually. and I'm sure I'll warm up to Jones, but she plays a doctor that doesn't know CPR??!! Sorry, I can't swallow something so basic. I've watched Dr. Who since the 4th doctor so I'm no newbie to the Dr. but, but, but... it's just not right. A bldg to the moon? electricity still working while on the moon.... there is logic... and there is abuse of logic. I did not like it. But I like the way he proved he's an alien and that he can time travel. That was the only thing I liked.

So far so good - as long as they avoid the sentimental slush that cropped up on the previous series. Enjoyed it.
