Well the sex would be great, but I can't see that any of the rest of it would be all that it's cracked up to be- at least not in my culture. I can see where it might make sense in other cultures. Yet for every tradition we espouse with open arms, another culture believes the exact opposite.
In my humble opinion, every person, male, female, trans, bi, straight, homo- deserves unconditional love from other human beings as a universal birthright. That love needs to be recognized before God, family, and community. You can't base right and wrong on the fallacy, "we've always done it only one way"; or on biased opinions of ancient men. Marriage should be sacred, spiritual, and legal, and accessible to all couples who want to make a commitment to each other. If the creator has a problem with it, don't you think s/he will take it up with them personally? The most chilling example of the discrimination we practice can be found at the deathbed- only legally recognized spouses or family members can make final life support decisions in many cases. Having been someone's loving domestic partner for 25 years means squat at a military funeral, for instance. The act of dying is one of the most sacred we perform, yet we deny gays that dignity. Scary, folks, scary. If for no other reason than this, the laws need to be changed. So, yes, other froms of marriage should take their place of honor besides the traditional one.

I only have the opinion that I do because I am Muslim:
In Islam, polygamy is permitted but highly discouraged. 2.5% of Muslim men have more than one wife, and that is in the poorest of the third-world countries (ironic, because Islam requires a man to be able to fully support both wives).
Because I feel that polygamy is out-dated (it was only put into use after a battle with Mecca in which the Prophet SAWS lost many men who left behind widows and orphans that needed protection), I feel that it should be put out of practice and condemned.
Unfortunately since there is no central Islamic authority AND because even if men know they would never want one wife (but boy, does it sound nice!), this would never happen.
So my proposition to the Muslim community is that women be allowed more than one husband. It would be great. They both have to take care of you, you don't HAVE to work if you don't want to as a Muslimah, you have to be treated like a princess by your husband - as a woman with TWO husbands, imagine how that would be?
So my long way of answering this is: If a community is going to ok polygamy than it should ok polyandry. If not, they both need to be thrown out.
I personally think the idea of sharing one person sexually, spiritually and emotionally is abhorrent, disgusting, and exploitative. Marriage should be between two consenting adults and ONLY two consenting adults.
(I'm not particularly concerned about what the consenting adults' genders are, either.)

I'm not a lesbian, and I'm married to a man. But I have always thought it would be nice to have a wife. Wives are so hardworking and women tend to bond when hard work is involved. Also when arguing it would be nice to have another logical thinker in the house. I guess that is not really what you are asking though. I think men don't like to share and what would be the point of two guys cracking a beer and playing xbox for hours on end on the couch?

I would say No, in the eyes of god it is wrong, however a couple of husbands to work, clean , make money does sound nice, but it is considered a huge sin, very bad .. I am not preaching because I have a ton of sins like everyone else.. But I do not think it is a good idea. Just my opion besides it is hard enough to deal with one husband LOL

I don't agree because
-It's against my religion, for a good purpose-why would one want to have sexual intercourse with two different men,not being sure who is the father, this is obviously wrong
-one husband is more than enough to tolerate
-the men will not agree with "sharing" their woman, this will cause many disputes-that kind of "marriage" is not going to be a happy one
-what example will this be for the children?especially the females-they may just grow up thinking they can have however many men,and this will cause many problems-prostitution is an indirect effect, also teenage pregnancy is one, pregnancy before marriage, also one that goes against my religion
-the men may feel that they can have more than one wife too...then the woman will lose her importance
-what if both develop a drinking problem?the woman will have not one,but two men abusing her-that's worse
I believe that the simpler, right thing to do is to marry one very special man.

I'm no lady but no, it is not a good idea. It yet happens occasionally and when it does it is hard enough to cope with all the people that judge it "wrong." Which comes on top of your own subconscious judgments about it. If it happens and turns out great, wonderful! Go for it! But if it's about an "idea" you would like to realize, forget it. It won't work.

Why would u want 2 do that and ruin your life. IT IS 2 MUCH work trying 2 control a set of male horomones. Do u really think that 2 man can handle one woman. I don't believe u can do this without a lot of drama and some one's ego getting hurt. One man would always be comparing his penis size 2 the next(lol) I'm just kidding. I think u could try it but it won't work.

Polyandry is an artificial state that only one or two primate species exhibits, and even then, its mostly a notion of the female mating with whichever male she's in the mood for.
Humans are monogamous mammals, we choose a single mate and mostly remain loyal (mostly being the key word here). Human males are not physically capable of keeping a harem of females like other animals (deer, rabbits, etc.) because our sexual dimorphism is not so great that there is an obvious size difference between the sexes. (compare a doe to a buck in terms of muscle mass).
Polygomy makes more senses from an evolutionary standpoint, while polyandry does not. The competition of male vs. male for the passing of genetic material into future generations is a system that creates diversification of the species. Therefore, a male who mates with multiple (willing) females passes on that much more of his genes (thereby more successful than other males).
On the other hand, a female who mates with multiple partners does not benefit from the same genetic "survival of the fittest". She already has control of which male she mates, overstepping the unappealing males to group around the appealing ones.

I'm against polygamy and polyandry, simply because I wouldn't want to share my man with another woman, and I wouldn't want to share my time and love with two or more men. That's the way I was brought up, and I have no intention of changing that.
