Well, it takes a great deal of work. You have to learn and know programs such as Adobe Audition, Sound Forge, and other things such as how to mic guests, the different types of mics, etc. You might be able to volunteer at a college radio station and learn from someone there, but I had to go to college for four years to be a radio news anchor and producer. Broadcasting schools aren't worth the money, to tell you the truth.

Get a bachelors degree, if you don't already have one. Otherwise, find someone in the business who will help you. Good luck for having courage. I started my college when I was 36 and had four children at home. Also worked out every cent of it. Very proud. You can do it. Don't let anyone rain on your parade!!!

What sort of programmes? News? Drama? Comedy? Talk radio? Sport? Music?
You see, it's not as straightforward as you think.
Truth be told, there are thousands of people younger than you who are already doing this job.
