some of both
after a few, I think a persons true nature comes out
if he is a sensitive poet, you get nice poems
if he is a violent jerk, you get rude violence
after too many, you just get drunken randomness either way

There are two ends of the spectrum here. Those that tell only the truth as they can't hold it back. And those that lose their concept of fact and think what they're saying is true. As a bartender I've seen it all. I actually think, some people really think they are as great as they slur they are. Alcohol does many things to many people. To say 100% of people only say the truth or not isn't possible. I know when I'm drunk, I am exactly like I am when I'm sober. I can tell the same stories with a glass of spirits in my hand or a bottle of water.

I can only speak for myself, but I know that I tend to become more IMPULSIVE. That is, I don't necessarily say or do what I think is true, but simply whatever feels right at the the time.
Combined with a good memory - I never "black out" - in college I used to wake up with a lot of regrets on the weekends!

Well both things are true. People can be mroe truthful about themselves when they are drunk. But sometimes they really have no clue what they're talking about and ramble nonsense...

I asked myself the same question, and realised that it just depends. How drunk is the person, and is he or she known for lying? I know people who only tell the truth when they're drunk, or they'll agree with everything you say (great time to ask for somthing or tell them bad news) So yea, it just kinda depends

I think they mostly speak a lot of truth when drunk. When they are sober they will tell you they were drunk and didn't know what they were talking about or doing.
That's the oldest excuse in the book :)What, why, who & how?
"but I was drunk"

I think some people use "courage in a bottle" to say what they really think with the excuse of being drunk.

I think they tell the truth. The brain is fuzzy there fore the person can not stop and censor what he wants to say. It just comes out.

I've found that people tend to be a lot more honest when drunk.
