When its like, 48 degrees or lower. If you have to play when it's this cold, then WEAR BATTING GLOVES.

Ever try to hit a ball with a bat when it is around 50 degrees or lower? It feels like a swarm of bees has stung your hands all at once. The feeling can bring tears to your eyes. I'm amazed when anyone hits the ball hard in cold weather.

I think 40 degrees is probably too cold, however, baseball is an outdoor game, and in early April and late October, it is played in places where it tends to get to that level, so I think the question, while it has merit, has no real application unfortunately.

To the guy comparing to football: baseball is a summer sport, football is an autumn sport. You wanna talk about candyasses? How about NFL players with air conditioners on the sidelines in the preseason and early season.

Anyway, I think anything over 60F is great baseball weather, over 45F is acceptable.

It's never to cold to play baseball until you would freeze, but getting hit by a ball would hurt like heck if it was below 50.

It's never to cold. Baseball only gets called with to much rain.

I believe that baseball should be played during any temperature, unless you have rain or snow. I love baseball. I live for this!

well since I've seen a Yankee home opener played while it was snowing(believe it was the 96 season, all I remember was Petitte was pitching),so I guess temps not a problem, they'd probably have called it though if the snow started accumulating.
