Can Iran really kill them under their laws? Iran have horrible ways of punishment... Stoning, execution, eye ball removing, removing limbs, hanging...

We all know that if this happens, we will go to war with them, but what are the chances that the Iranians will sink this low? I'd like to know how many of you think this will come to this?

Please feel free to say whatever your thinking.

In countries like Iran, they can kill them regardless of what their laws say. Laws don't mean the same thing there as they do in free countries.

It is difficult to know what the Iranians are going to do. They haven't responded in rational ways to any of the international pressure that has been applied to them for their actions -- either with the hostage deal, fomenting terrorism in other countries, or the nuclear issue.

I certainly hope that this doesn't end in war, but I think that we will evenually have to have war with them unless there is a revolution within their country.

Yes I think Iran could kill our sailors but a long prison sentance is probably more likely for them.

The truth is that we can't win a conventional war with Iran. We don't have a big enough army for a land invasion. Mass conscription into the armed forces seems very unlikely. Even the Americans are overstretched and are not ready for a conventional war with Iran. Some politicians in America have talked about nuclear strikes being used on Iran. We have some nuclear weapons of our own to use. I find it hard to believe we would actually launch a nuclear attack on Iran but the cold logic is that it's less costly on human lives on both sides than a conventional war.

Can you imagine Tony Blair saying to the Iranians release our sailors now or we'll launch nuclear weapons on Tehran? It's seems a disproportionate response but what else will frighten them into handing them back? I expect in reality what will happen is that some face saving compromise will be reached but the revolutionary guard people holding our sailors are ideologically driven and may just be foolish enough to provoke world war three.

If anyone goes on trial in Iran, they will be found guilty.

Could Iran sink this low. Remember the Ayatollah Khomeni and the hostage crisis, where they held a number of Americans for over a year?

Do you think they've changed.....

If they are put on trial in Iran - they WILL be found guilty, and they WILL be put to death. There is no doubt in this, they don't have a fair and honest legal system.
