I just setup a 55 gal tank a few days ago and I put 2 golfish in it. They are loving it. I slowly raised the temp to 75. What other fish should I put in? I would like a few suckers and some colorful fish. How many days should you leave in between mixing species?

Okay so If I shouldn't have them with tropical fish. Are their other fish to put in a coldwater tank? Or should I just take them out and start over?

Goldfishes are said to be coldwater fish, but personally I have seen them do well in tropical waters also, and the growth is better as well as the shine. Unless you have some other agressive fishes that may hurt the goldies, you can surely have them get going in the tropical tank. But avoid sucker fishes because they will not be good tank mates for the goldies.

Goldfish can be mixed with some species of coldwater fish. The fish should be of a similar size and peaceful, potentially large and predatory species like channel catfish should be avoided whatever their size.

Good tank mates are fish like -
Rudd.
Tench - silver, green and golden forms are all available.
Minnows, though cool water is essential.
Orfe. - different colour forms available.
Weather Loach.
Stone Loach
Other goldfish, Shubunkins and Comets.

You relly shouldn't do it honestly. Goldfish are a coldwater species and shouldn't be mixed with tropical fishes. Goldfish perfer and do best at a maximum temperature in the lower 70's while tropicals prefer temperatures in the upper 70's to lower 80's. There is no way you can keep both at a really good temperature.

You shorten the life of cold water fish when you put them in a heated tank. Also goldfish are very dirty and will add a great deal of dirt to the tank.

Don't listen to these guys. I have a tank, 55gal, with two turtles(RES), two angels, two large goldfish, two Plecos, two dwarf gouramis, a polypterous, and six small goldfish. I keep the tank between 70 and 76 degrees F. Everything loves it! I do a water change once a week, as well as gravel vacuum. Make sure to treat any water that goes in. I like the all in one fizz tabs made by Jungle. Petsmart carries them. Also I feed them frozen or fresh(live) food. Be sure to keep a close eye on your fish though, goldfish in warm water can contract and spread disease easier.

goldfish do not like warm water! the colder the better. you could put other fish in but they may kill them. goldfish are best left alone with other goldfish.

You should basically get another tank and do another one so you don't have to get rid of your goldfish...

poopinmy... is lying to you.
Temperature and the amount of waste goldfish produce make it impossible to keep them together.
