We always have extra plastic easter eggs and don't know what to do with them... have any ideas? Crafts? Anything?

Thanks!

I make a very small hole in the top of the egg, I make a hanger with fishing line, and secure it so it does not fall out. I then superglue or tape the egg shut so it does not fall apart and then I put all of the eggs on my trees and bushes in my front yard as decoration. The kids and everyone seem to love it.

Put a small scoop of rice inside and glue the egg shut. Voila! One rhythm instrument! You can purchase something like this at a music supply shop, but why not make your own if you have the egg-stras anyway? (Sorry, bad pun.) Save the supplies to make new ones later on in the year in case these either wear out or get lost.

The tiniest size of these eggs also makes a great travel case for one pair of earrings or even a small necklace. For a heavier necklace, you'd need a regular-sized one. It's a great way to take a few pieces of jewelry along on a trip.

If they're the rubbery kind of plastic eggs (often has a hinge, but not necessarily) rather than the "hard-plastic" ones, then you can cover them with polymer clay in all kinds of ways, then bake them in a low overn (275). You could also put rice or beans inside before covering and make shakers, or rattles if you add a handle too.

Check out this page at my website for lots of ideas on covering plastic eggs with polymer clay** as well as blown out real eggs:
http://glassattic.com/polymer/eggs.htm
(... click on PLASTIC EGGS... but many of the ideas and techniques on the rest of the page will also work for plastic eggs)

**for these thin applications of polymer clay, it's best to use a brand of polymer clay that's strong after baking in *thin* areas (Premo, Kato Polyclay, FimoClassic)... instead of the weaker one brands (Sculpey, FimoSoft)

I have a recipe for homemade Gak (remember Nickelodian?) and I filled plastic easter eggs with it to give as school party favors. They were a big hit with the 4th and 5th grade bunch!
