I from Texas, & I love it here. :] I love the people, the food, the culture, the diversity, the pride, the flag, the bluebonnet, the variety!

Ahh, I could go on & on, but this question is for you, so I'll stop there.

I come from California and I live here. I absolutely love it here. Where I live, I am 20 minutes away from the ocean, where I enjoy the salty air and the long miles of beaches. I am 1 hour away from the mountains and 1-1/2 hours away from the desert. I live in a rural area that by Southern California standards includes all the necessities of life: good restaurants, a movie theater, arcade, miniature golf, bowling, and parks. Still, if I want to be in a big city, there is one just 10-15 minutes away. There are lots of shopping malls. I also love the fact that while we do have massive traffic jams during certain times of the day, we have so many freeways that one can get to just about anywhere in a relatively quick amount of time.

I love the sunshine which is here most of the year. I love the fact that the average temperature year-round is about 70 degrees. That's perfect. While it can get very hot in the summer (over 100 degrees), temperatures in the 50's and 60's during the winter is pretty good - heck, we have even had 90+ degrees in the winter at times, and on a couple of rare occasions, we had snow in the valleys (sea level) which melted fairly quickly and didn't accumulate.

We have the world famous San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park, Sea World, Disneyland, Magic Mountain, Hollywood, Universal Studios, miles of beaches, beautiful countrysides and mountains, great ski resorts (Mammoth, Lake Tahoe), beautiful rolling hills (Placerville, CA), outstanding medical care and plenty of things to do. We also have many outstanding colleges and universities and some of the best schools in the nation. Then there is my personal favorite - we have what I would consider, some of the best Mexican food this country has ever known (although I've heard it's pretty good in Texas too).

A final reason why I love California is because it is a beautiful and varied state. Where else can one go from the ocean, to the mountains and then to the desert, all in one day? How cool is THAT? I'm proud to be a California girl (although an aging one at 45, I've always thought of myself as one since I was a teenager). I just love it here.

Diversity, the opportunity to do almost anything at any time of day or night, the food options are great, I meet new people every day and knowing that I live in the city I dreamed of living in as a child feels pretty good.

I live about 90 minutes away from Disneyland, the beach, and just about everything else southern California has to offer. No complaints here. :)

And yes, even though I live in the super-hippie-liberal state here, I STILL love the U.S.
