Depends on the speed of the ram that each motherboard allows If its a older dell your trying to put in newer Vaio probally not. Best way to find out is throw it in if it doesn't bsod you when you boot it up your good to go.

I doubt it because the motherboards probably accept different types of ram, and I think laptops might use something different than desktops.
