Just remember that you have the right to keep and bear arms. Now that the weather is nicer get out to the range and sharpen your skills. Our best weapon may be an armed population.

Why bother asking a question that will never happen? Granted, the military might come home from Iraq, the Patriot Act might go through changes, but will never be totally eliminated, since 9/11, The military Commissions act won't get repealed, the CIA and FEMA will always be there as will the department of Homeland Security, so, why ask such a ridiculous question? All things considered, things will be the same.

Safer for the first few. Overcome based on the last few.

Bringing the troops home means have more troops to respond to actual direct threats, and a better infrastructure (money and manpower-wise) to handle whatever happens.

Most of the Patriot Act II and the MCA are unconstitutional, and do little to help us anway. Most of Patriot Act I and DHS are actually a good idea, and intended for efficiency in action.

FEMA responds to natural disasters. Eliminating them leaves it up to each state to deal with matters locally. DHS includes FEMA, as well the Coast Guard, INS, Customs and the Secret Service -- all of which provide strong benefits in terms of national defense and security, with little excess intrusion.

FEMA should have been disbanded before Hurricane Katrina. Then the clowns in charge of New Orleans and Louisiana would have had nobody to blame but themselves.

Agree with coragryph, however,

Admittedly, Americans would regain some of the rights that have been taken away from them

A. WITHOUT A DOUBT! But that wont happen because we are being held in a war without any borders nor any real enemies. They are morphing this into where ANYONE can be called a terrorist based on what the GOVERNMENT wants them to be called.
