Johnny Cash had the same problem. So he just started out with, " Hi my name is Johnny Cash" then went on from there.Simple but very effective.

You could start with the beginning, of course, like where you were born, a little bit about your family etc....
But that's a bit lame, isn't it? I mean that's what people expect from an autobiography.
So how about starting with something like : I could tell you all about when I was born, where I lived, and all other things that happened to me that I don't even remember. But I think it's better to tell you something that matters to me, if your intention is to get to know me better.
Of course, this is not the way you're supposed to write it- but just the main idea. I think it could be really interesting if you can skip the boring bits and tell about an event or two (or more, but you say it's gotta be short) that has had an effect on the person you are today.

How about starting from the beginning, since it's an autobiography? That's usually the way an autobiography works. Tell a little about your origins and family background and formative people, places and events in your life first. Then move on to more recent matters.
