I live by the law-formula of the Categorical Imperative (though I never think about it in those terms)... but basically it means that I try not to do things that I could not or would not will to be a universal law for all people. My duties also come from this in a convoluted manner.

God's laws are THE LAWS that we are to live by. God tells us to do as the laws of the land tell us to do until they disobey God's laws.

Reciprocation.
I think every culture takes a shot at describing this relationship. "an eye for an eye", " do unto others " and so on. I am not Gandhi, I will not allow myself to be trampled by others. I demand a balance between everyone and everything in my world. I expect and require an equilibrium.
